Donald Trump

There are some things I like about Donald Trump:

2000 'The America We Deserve': "... we've got to bring on the competition -open the schoolhouse doors and let parents choose the best school for their children."
12/10/2015 donaldjtrump.com: "The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period."
12/10/2015 donaldjtrump.com: Simplify the tax code to reduce the headaches Americans face in preparing their taxes and let everyone keep more of their money.
10/26/2015 infowars.com: "Number one: I'm building a wall; they're not coming in anymore," Trump said, adding "Number two: We're immediately building a wall."

And some things I dislike:

12/8/2015 huffingtonpost.com: Donald Trump Wants Bill Gates' Help 'Closing That Internet Up'
12/7/2015 huffingtonpost.com: Donald Trump Calls For 'Complete Shutdown' Of Muslims Entering U.S.
10/25/2015 dailycaller.com: Trump Thinks He Can Deport 11 Million Illegal Immigrants Through 'Very Good Management'

In addition, Mr. Trump's arrogant, confrontational personality makes me question his ability to govern rather than dictate.

A couple of other things. The first is his web site. On 12/10/2015 there were only 5 positions (issues) addressed. Compare this Marco Rubio's web site on which 32 issues are addressed. Either Mr. Trump doesn't have a position on many of the most pressing issues America is facing or he doesn't want to put them in print for American voters to assess.

The other is his Nov. 2015 GQ interview in which he states: "I would imagine I would be quite a bit different. I would feel differently about things as a president. Right now, I'm fighting a lot of people. As a president I would be more measured." My interruption? "I'll say what I need to say to get elected but don't hold me accountable for my campaign rhetoric once I'm in office."

On balance the dislikes outweigh the likes.

I'll take a pass on Mr. Trump's Kool-Aid and hope either Marco Rubio or Carly Fiorina can get their act together. I do not look forward to having to choose between a socialist, a warmed over President Obama, or a clueless tyrant on election day.
