I'm a child of the 60's raised in the Midwest. I remember when the mere mention of California conjured up images of beach front homes, idyllic climate, surfing and beautiful bikini clad girls. When west coast pop music rightly glamorized the 'Golden State': California Girls - The Beach Boys; California Dreamin' - The Mamas and Papas. It truly saddens me that this once great state has become an American eye sore due to liberal/progressive leadership.
There was time when California culture heavily influenced the nation. Thus the saying 'As California goes so goes the nation'. I hope and pray that is not the case today. If it is America is destine to become an eye sore on planet earth.
