Law enforcement officials said Tuesday at least a dozen of the 23 firearms recovered in Las Vegas were semiautomatic rifles legally modified to fire like automatic weapons, using an alteration known as a bump fire stock.

Educate yourselves people.

First, machine guns (a.k.a. automatic weapons) are illegal in the United States. The Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986 (FOPA) makes machine guns illegal in the United States unless the transfer, sale and possession is approved by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Second, the weapon(s) used in the Las Vegas shooting on October 1, 2017 that killed 59 people was not machine gun. It was a semi-automatic rifle fitted with a bump fire stock. Ignoring this fact only serves to reinforce the stigma of ignorance associated with gun control advocates.

Rather than focus on the instrument of death how about we address the root causes. Ignorance, bigotry and haltered.
